Del boy takes AIM at charity auction

It was a lubberly jubberly occasion that raised hundreds of pounds for AIM Action In Mental Health. An auction of celebrity memorabilia, including signed photographs and books, followed the annual civic service, 'A celebration of community, 100 years of civic life in Waltham Abbey', at the Abbey Church.

The service marked the centenary of the town hall, and coincided with World Mental Health Day.

The service, attended by civic dignitaries and residents was conducted by Canon Rev Martin Webster and involved members and friends of the Spanners Friendship Club, run by AIM.

Among the lots auctioned by Del boy look-alike Maurice Canham, who won ITV's
stars and their doubles competition, were signed books from Emma Thompson,
Stephen Fry and Michael Palin.

Autographed photos from Dolly Parton, footballer Tony Adams and Petula Clark
and a signed photograph of Gary Lineker, who also gave an autographed copy of
the Match of the Day live scripts for the Euro 2004 final, were up for grabs.

And a top worn by EastEnders star Jessie Wallis, Who Plays Kat in the BBC soap,
went under the hammer.

The guests at the service and auction included Epping Forest District Council chairman Richard Morgan, Epping Mayor Ken Avey and Waltham Abbey Mayor Antony Watts.

The auction and raffle raised   £653

While Street Collections over the last two Saturdays  Totalled    £85.18
