I applaud the work done at AIM and since November 3rd, 2004 have become AIM's official patron. I often say "If only each of us could care a little more, love a little more, spare a little time for those less fortunate than us, the world would be a much better place to live in - It is not always about money, even a simple smile or a word of encouragement can work wonders at times."
AIM endeavours to do exactly that. It is about caring, sharing and supporting each other. AIM's Drop-In and Support Services are a valuable lifeline for those experiencing mental health problems in
the local community and for carers too.
Mental health affects all of us - all ages, cultural or economic backgrounds and without mental health, there is no health. A simple smile or a word of encouragement can help to regain confidence, self-esteem and self-worth - all so very necessary towards creating a sense of well-being, physically, mentally and spiritually - it is all one.
AIM's unique and pioneering vision of a Centre for Joy, Well-being & Mind will go one step further towards helping so many more people in so many ways, even helping to break down the stigma that so often acts as a barrier to a greater understanding.
ONE IN FOUR people will experience a mental health problem at some point in their lives and this is on the increase right across the world.
Sometimes this can be as a result of insurmountable obstacles - poverty, family breakdown, loss of a loved one, loss of a job... and can be difficult to overcome alone as so many of us know from our own personal experiences.
We all need a little help, support and understanding.
