AIM INITIATIVES

AIM works on raising the profile of mental health in Epping Forest and beyond through various initiatives such as   Mental Health Forums   and annual World Mental Health Day events.
AIM believes in networking with others and working
in partnership to the benefit of all.

EPPING FOREST COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH FORUM

Two further jointly hosted (NEST & AIM) Epping Forest Community Mental Health Forums were held on 12th October 2004 & 20th April 2005.

October.  An event was held around World Mental Health Day and featured Spirituality & Mental Health with the launch of a Mental Health Training Resource by the Church of England, presented by Revd. Diana Crook, Waltham Abbey Church.  A review of the Waltham Abbey Anger Management Pilot Project was then presented by Jane Walters, Epping Forest PCT & Adewale Ademuyima, Waltham Abbey Community Mental Health Team.  Participants then enjoyed a voice relaxation session with Lynn Holland followed by a presentation on Direct Payments & Social Inclusion by Robin Murray - Neil, NIMHE.

April. An event was held during National Depression Week and focused on the Human Givens Approach as one of the many roads to recovery - using ones resources to meet needs.  An overview was given by Andrew Richardson, local HG Counsellor with presentations from Iain Caldwell, Mental Health Support Network Co-ordinator from Hartlepool MIND and Stuart Cauldon, (working with Hertfordshire Connexions) on Young People Case Studies.

A further event  ‘World Mental Health Day’ took place on  10 October 2005 focusing on Mental Health Across the Life Span & the launch of a joint initiative Epping Forest Healthy Mind Guidebook between AIM, Epping Forest Primary Care Trust & Epping Forest District Council. COMMUNITY EVENTS

In December 2004, AIM participated in the first Christmas on Broadway event with volunteers present on the day.  AIM also organised a Christmas Card Design Competition for members of Spanners, ReThink Roding House, Roding Circle Group & the Chigwell Disabled Group.  AIM arranged for Mr. Don Lewin, Chairman of Clinton Cards Plc to judge the winners.  In 2005 for the third year, AIM participated in DEBDEN DAY - a local event held each year on Debden Broadway and hosted by the Loughton Broadway Town Centre Partnership.  AIM helped to obtain funding for the event from the Local Network Fund as well as co-sponsor the horse & carriage for the day in partnership with Clinton Cards Plc.  AIM, Roding Circle Group & Chigwell Disabled Group once again worked together to help raise awareness of physical, mental & learning disabilities throughout the community.  AIM also participated in Our Kind of People Talent Show & Waltham Abbey Town Show.
